POLICRYSTAL ® is a plastic “technological” material created by Italesse’s research thanks to its experience on the selection and work of the best polycarbonates that can be found on the market.

What is polycarbonate?

Polycarbonate is a particular thermoplastic polyester material; its physical characteristics like break proof, resistance, food safe, extraordinary optical properties and remarkable mechanical and thermal properties make of it a “technological” plastic.

Polycarbonate is not only used in tableware; it is applied in the optical field (eyeglass lenses and similar applications), in the automotive and motorcycle industries (different accessories and helmets), in medical applications (different types of containers) and in the children-field (baby’s bottles), thanks to its outstanding properties.

Polycarbonate’s production process foresees work and injection at 80°C and considering its particular physical characteristics, this process must be made with high-pressure technologies in highly resistant moulds built with specific steels.

Our POLICRYSTAL® is a mix of the finest polycarbonates that combined with an exclusive know-how developed by Italesse lead to an extraordinary result in terms of resistance and brightness.

*DISHWASHER SAFE: The significant strength of POLICRYSTAL® allows resistance against thermal shocks and aggressions of detergents used in modern dishwashing machines. It is significantly more resistant against washing cycles than other plastic materials like acrylic, polystyrene and SAN, which are subject to irreversible “micro- cracking” when machine washed.

*CRYSTALLINE TRANSPARENCY: The accurate working and ignition processes of our POLICRYSTAL® has favoured a remarkable light permeability that exceeds the light permeability of some types of glass, granting a degree of transparency and brightness to our products that can be hardly seen in other products and that will make it difficult to distinguish our polycarbonate products from those made up of glass. Its particular crystalline transparency distinguishes it from other products found on the market that have chromatic fades with blue and grey notes.

*STRENGTH AND VERSATILITY: The infrangibility of POLICRYSTAL® makes it perfect to be used on extreme environments like swimming pools and beaches or SPA’s where glass products may break and imply serious danger for users. This characteristic also makes it suitable for crowded indoor environments like pubs, clubs or sport clubs. Furthermore, POLICRYSTAL® is remarkably resistant against thermal shocks, indeed, its working temperature ranges from -135°C to 130°C so our products can be used on microwave ovens and freezers without any risk. Last but not least, POLICRYSTAL® does not release any odour or aroma to food or drinks contained, guaranteeing perfect use versatility within the food field.
